ON THE ROAD: The No.1-ranked University of Montana Grizzlies (1-0) have their first road game of the 2010 season, playing the Cal Poly Mustangs
(1-0) Saturday, Sept. 11, with kickoff at 7:05 p.m. (Mtn.) in Alex G.
Spanos Stadium (11,075).
RADIO: Mick Holien calls the play-by-play for the Grizzlies for his 18th season in a row on UM's 18-station Grizzly Football Network and Missoula's KGVO-AM (1290) and KVWE-FM (101.5). Scott Gurnsey provides in-booth color, and Greg Sundberg is the sideline reporter.
TV: The play-by-play announcer is KPAX-TV's Derek Buerkle, while UM's Dave Guffey provides in-booth color. The game will be aired on all of MTN's CW Montana (cwmontana.com) stations.

LAST TIME GRIZ WERE RANKED NO. 1: Montana was ranked number one in the FCS coaches' poll for three weeks last season, from week 10 (Nov. 9) until the final poll in 2009. The last time the Grizzlies were ranked No. 1 in the Sports Network poll was week four of the 2007 season, from Sept. 24th until Oct. 8th.
GRIZ LAST WEEK: The Griz tied an NCAA record by scoring four touchdowns on interceptions, and senior quarterbacks Andrew Selle and Justin Roper combined for five scoring passes as they rolled to a 73-2 win over the visiting Western State College.
BIG CROWD: There were 25,663 fans at the opener -- the sixth largest ever in 179 games to watch Montana open its 2010 season and the 25th season at WGS.
FIFTH MOST POINTS EVER: The 73 points by Montana ties for the fifth most ever. The Griz beat Mt. Saint Charles (Carroll College) 133-0 in 1920; Montana Tech 106-6 in 1924; 79-0 over Montana State in 1904; and 81-21 over Weber State and 73-23 at Idaho State, both in 1999.
GRIZ IN OPENERS: Montana is now 20-4 in home openers in Washington-Grizzly Stadium since 1987 (UM opened its 1986 season at
Dornblaser Stadium).
FIRST CAREER WIN: Last Saturday's victory was the first for Montana head coach Robin Plugrad. He has been coaching in the college ranks the past
29 years.
NEXT WEEK: Montana opens its Big Sky Conference season playing the 15th/17th-ranked Eastern Washington Eagles in Cheney on EWU's new red turf in Roos Field (8,600). EWU plays Central Washington at Qwest Field in Seattle Saturday, Sept. 11.
REYNOLDS AND SELLE ON PAYTON LIST: For the first time in school history Montana has more than one player on the Walter Payton Award list.
Senior halfback Chase Reynolds and Selle and were both named to the prestigious list.
JOHNSON ON BUCHANAN LIST: Montana junior cornerback Trumaine Johnson is on the 2010 Buck Buchanan Award list. He was a first team All-Big Sky pick last season.
GRIZ LAST YEAR: Montana was a perfect 11-0 in the regular season and went 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the Big Sky. UM went undefeated in the regular-season for the fifth time in school history in 2009 (10-0 in
1969 & 70, 11-0 in 1996, 11-0 in 2007).

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS: Cal Poly returns 19 starters from a 4-7 team. The Mustangs return seven All-Great West Conference first or second team picks. Cal Poly is coached by former (1993-2006) Portland State mentor Tim Walsh, who is in his second year there and is 122-89 in 20 seasons as a head mentor.
CAL POLY LAST WEEK: The host Mustangs overcame a 17-7 halftime deficit with two touchdowns and a safety to beat Humboldt State 23-17 in their season opener. Junior slotback Mark Rodgers (5-8, 185) surpassed the 100-yard mark in his first game as a Mustang, and senior quarterback Tony Smith (6-1, 190) ran 48 yards for the go-ahead score with 7:58 left to play.
