DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - Officials with the Dakota Athletic and
Frontier conferences have started discussing a possible
partnership.
Officials met in Dickinson on Wednesday and said they talked
about the possibility of merging, or remaining separate leagues but
having a scheduling agreement.
Carroll College Athletic Director Bruce Parker says no decisions
were made other than to keep talking.
Because of recent or pending departures, the DAC, which once had
10 members, will be down to just four schools in the fall of 2011.
The Frontier is a nine-member league of mostly Montana schools that
has been eyeing expansion for some time.
NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr attended Wednesday's meeting. He
says he remains confident about the future of the NAIA, despite a
growing trend among its schools to pursue NCAA affiliation.
