OGDEN, UTAH (August 13, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference once again announced the largest television package of a Football Championship Subdivision Conference on Friday, a lineup that includes 24 of the 36 conference games.
In all, almost 40 regular-season games featuring Big Sky Conference teams will be televised in 2010.
“We’re thrilled once again to offer our fans the opportunity to view so many of our games on television,’’ said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. “Our television package is unmatched at the Football Championship Subdivision level.’’
Altitude Sports & Entertainment continues its long-standing relationship with the Big Sky by televising five conference clashes. The first game on Altitude is Sept. 11 when Northern Colorado travels to Weber State. It’s one of three Altitude appearances for the Bears. On Sept. 18, Idaho State plays Northern Colorado in Greeley. On Oct. 16, Eastern Washington meets the Bears.
Weber State and Eastern Washington, which both qualified for the 2009 FCS playoffs, battle in Ogden, Utah., on Oct. 2. A clash between Montana State and Idaho State on Oct. 30, in Pocatello rounds out Altitude’s Big Sky schedule.
Altitude is available on many cable outlets throughout Montana, Utah, Colorado and Idaho. It is also available on Dish Network channel 410 and DirecTV channel 681.
Twelve-time defending Big Sky champion Montana will have all 11 of its games televised throughout the state of Montana. Four games, including all three of the Grizzlies’ non-conference contests will air on Montana CW networks. Seven of Montana’s eight conference games will air on Montana’s News Stations, which includes flagship network KPAX of Missoula.
The Montana News Station’s schedule features the Sept. 18 meeting between the Grizzlies and Eastern Washington on the Eagles’ new red turf at Roos Field. The 110th meeting between Montana and Montana State will air from Missoula on Nov. 20 on Montana’s News Stations.
Eight of Montana State’s games will be televised in Montana on the Max Media networks in high definition. Max Media will show the Bobcats’ non-conference games against Fort Lewis and Drake, as well as conference clashes against Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sacramento State and Weber State. Currently, 10 of Montana State’s 11 games are slated to be televised. The 11th – a non-conference game against Pac-10 Washington State - is also expected to be televised, although no announcement has yet been made.
For the fourth straight season, Northern Arizona’s own television channel will televise Lumberjack football. NAU TV is available around the globe on Dish Network channel 9411. This season, NAU TV will televise the Lumberjacks’ home games against Western New Mexico, Sacramento State, Weber State and Portland State.
For the second straight season, SWX of Spokane, Wash., will air Eastern Washington football. SWX will televise the Eagles’ home games against Northern Arizona, Southern Utah and Idaho State. SWX will also show the Montana matchup on Sept. 18.
Sacramento State’s opener against Stanford will air on Comcast Sports Net Bay Area. Comcast Sports Net California will show the Hornets’ home game against Montana State, as well as their rivalry game against UC Davis.
Six other games featuring Big Sky teams against Football Bowl Subdivision teams are also expected to be televised. Announcements are expected in the near future.
“We are very fortunate to have such strong television partners,’’ said Fullerton. “I thank them all, because without their interest and support, we couldn’t bring our fans, alumni, students and parents this TV exposure.’’
Big Sky fans are also reminded that all football games played in Big Sky stadiums can be viewed for free on the Internet on Big Sky TV.
