Cats Get Another Transfer

By Greg Ortiz

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State bolstered its last line of
defense on Tuesday, when Cory Nicol transferred into the Bobcat program.
Nichol comes to MSU from the University of Washington, where he
attended classes last year without playing football. Nichol left the
team last August after suffering an injury during preseason camp. A 5-10
cornerback, Nicol prepped at Woodinville, Wash., High School.
"Cory is a highly-skilled defender who has excellent coverage
abilities coupled with the willingness to play aggressively against the
run," said Bobcat coach Rob Ash. "He is a dependable and reliable young
man who will fit in well with the other members of the team in spite of
his late arrival. We look forward to seeing how he competes for playing
time once fall camp begins."
Nicol began his career at Orange Coast Community College before
transferring to Washington prior to the 2007 season. He played at Orange
Coast with current Bobcats Paul Bartsch and Matt Harris, and had closed
in on a starting spot with the Huskies last fall before his injury.
