Bobcats Add Another From Oregon

By KFBB Sports_Team

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State beefed up its defensive line on Wednesday, adding a second University of Oregon transfer this month, Bobcat coach Rob Ash said.
John Laidet, a 6-5, 225 lb defensive lineman from Bonanza (Ore.) High School, transfers to MSU as a second-year freshman after redshirting for the Ducks last fall. Ash characterizes Laidet as a well-rounded individual.
"John Laidet brings a high level of athleticism to our defensive line," Ash said. "He is a versatile, active, aggressive player with a great frame and excellent growth potential. John also is a young man with great character and values and he is a proven achiever in the classroom. Best of all, he still has all four years of eligibility remaining, so his entire college playing career is going to be spent as a Montana State Bobcat."
Laidet earned Oregon's Class 2A defensive player of the year honors from The Oregonian in 2006, helping lead his squad to an 11-2 mark and a trip to the state championship game. Laidet registered 19 tackles in the state title game, with seven quarterback sacks in the semifinal contest, earning first team all-league honors. He was also first team all-state center for his school's basketball team, and a state champion in the shot put and discus.
