Hey Cat Fans!

Montana State football wrapped up spring practice today with the annual Spring Game at the Triangle Classic in Great Falls.

I was there, and first impressions: the defense was FANTASTIC. Sophomore-to-be Clay Bignell had three sacks and deflected two passes. One of those passes, he probably should have taken for a pick-six, but it's still a PD in the stat sheet. Bignell is filling the shoes of departed All-American middle linebacker Bobby Daly. Pretty big shoes. Pretty good performance.

On offense, it's hard to pick an MVP, but Mark Desin looked pretty good early on. He caught a few passes from Mark Iddins, and looked like he's already back in sync with the receivers. But how much will that help MSU in the fall? There's a good chance zero of the WRs who played today will start in the fall (I'm assuming Elvis Akpla, Desean Thomas, and a freshman). Freshman TE Steven Foster also made a few nice catches over the middle.

No turnovers again for the offense, so that's good, but bad news is the O-Line gave up nine sacks. Starting guard Conrad Burbank was out, replaced by freshman Matt Bernard, so that might have had some impact on that number.
