HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 29-year-old Helena woman accused of giving a 10-year-old girl a powerful muscle relaxant so she and her boyfriend could go to the casino has been arrested.

Jennifer Morris Avrett was taken into custody early Friday on felony charges of criminal endangerment and criminal distribution of dangerous drugs. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of unlawful transaction with minors.

Avrett is accused of giving a friend of her boyfriend's daughter a Clonazepam pill. Documents filed in Justice Court say police went to Avrett's home after receiving a report that the child might have ingested the pill. Officers found two girls — her boyfriend's daughter and the girl's friend — alone in the home.

Court records say Avrett told officers when she returned from the casino with her boyfriend that she gave the girl the pill after the child complained of a headache.
