GREAT FALLS - A 3-year-old girl has died from severe brain injuries that police say were caused by a Malmstrom Air Force Base airman.

Cascade County Attorney John Parker says Kaelyn Bray was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. Monday. Prosecutors amended a charge against 22-year-old Jerimie Hicks to deliberate homicide. Before the girl died, Hicks was charged with attempted deliberate homicide, and District Judge Dirk Sandefur had set bail at $750,000.

Parker says the girl suffered the brain injuries on Friday while Hicks was the sole person in charge of her care. The child was the daughter of Hicks' girlfriend. Hicks was arrested Saturday. He asked for a public defender.
