HAMILTON - A Victor man who police say assaulted his stepfather after the stepfather cut off Internet service to the man's room has been charged with felony assault with a weapon and misdemeanor assault on a partner or family member.

Forty-three year old Jeffry A. Baldauf was charged Thursday in Ravalli County District Court and was being held on $30,000 bail. Police say Baldauf lives in the basement of his stepfather's home in Victor.

Police say Internet service to the house was shut off due to excessive use, and that the stepfather started the service again but disconnected it from the man's room.

Police say Baldauf became upset and confronted his 74-year-old stepfather, leading to a verbal argument and than a physical assault. Authorities say Baldauf then pulled a .44 magnum revolve from a holster by the stepfather's bed.

Baldauf's mother persuaded Baldauf to leave the room, and police say Baldauf than called 9-1-1 to report he had assaulted his stepfather.
