GREAT FALLS - Blackfeet compliance officers shut down a construction project at the Port of Piegan.

Lead compliance officer Emerald Grant said Wednesday that six workers were cited for failing to comply with tribal paperwork. Three electricians, two construction workers and a supervisor were each cited for not having a tribal work permit, and their three companies were fined $500 each for failing to obtain business licenses.

The director of service ports for the Department of Homeland Security, Francis Brown, did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
