EKALAKA - The state Department of Transportation has closed a section of Secondary Highway 323 south of Ekalaka due to flooding.

Pam Castleberry, Carter County clerk and recorder, says Boxelder Creek is out of its banks about 10 miles south of Ekalaka. About 17 miles of the road was closed Wednesday.

The Department of Transportation says it expects the road to be closed for at least 24 hours. All county roads in Carter County are also closed. Castleberry says runoff from three recent storms are causing problems in the southeastern Montana county.

A storm on March 23 dumped more than 3 feet of snow in some areas, while another 2 to 2.5 feet fell on March 30. Another snowstorm hit on April 3, bringing up to a foot of snow to the area.
