POLSON - Criminal charges against two men accused of vandalizing the Charlo schools last May have been dismissed, based on a deferred prosecution agreement.

Geoffery Baldridge and Jacob Seibert, both 19 and from Ronan, were charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal mischief and misdemeanor theft. They were accused of discharging multiple fire extinguishers inside several classrooms and buildings, causing an estimated $76,000 in damages.

Prosecutor Cory Allen with the Lake County attorney's office said Wednesday the two men have enlisted in the National Guard and that the deferred prosecution agreement was the only way the Charlo schools would receive restitution.

Under the agreement, Baldridge and Seibert will each pay the school $10,000 a year for the next four years. Allen said school board trustees consented to the agreement.
