Montana bishop going to Israel, Palestine

GREAT FALLS - Lutheran Bishop Jessica Crist of Great Falls is scheduled to leave for Israel and Palestine on Tuesday.

Crist says the trip with 43 other Lutheran bishops from the United States will be an opportunity to learn about complexities of the Arab-Israeli conflict. She says that given the latest violence, it was unclear until Sunday that the trip would proceed.

Crist is the bishop for the 55,000-member Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
