Pharmacist won't stock OxyContin

MISSOULA - A Missoula pharmacist says he no longer will stock the prescription painkiller OxyContin, because having it on the shelf makes his drugstore vulnerable to crime.

Gary Trenary spent more than $10,000 to strengthen security at his store, and says he saw the payoff when the additional measures helped thwart a recent robbery attempt. He says he's going a step farther, with the OxyContin decision, out of concern for safety. His wife and daughter work at the store and he doesn't want them confronted by robbers demanding the painkiller.

Trenary says that if customers legitimately need for OxyContin, he can place orders and get it within 24 hours.
