MISSOULA - A 21-year-old man has been charged with negligent homicide for his alleged role in a drag race that killed one man and injured four other people near Turah.

Matthew Chase of Missoula also faces several other charges stemming from the August 5th crash. The wreck killed 25-year-old Jacob Bailey of Clinton and put a 19-year-old woman in a coma. On the morning of the wreck, investigators said they found Bailey slumped over the driver's seat of his car. A 19-year-old woman was unconscious in the back seat, and another man was lying on the ground outside of the car. Two teenage girls also were injured.

The teens told investigators that they were drag racing with a person named "Matt," who they had met that night while drinking at a bar. That's according to charging documents filed Friday.

The court documents state that the victims said "Matt" cut them off and Bailey lost control of his car. The woman remains in critical condition at Saint Patrick Hospital.
