HELENA - Vice President Dick Cheney's planned visit to Bozeman, this week has been canceled.

Cheney was scheduled to raise money for the Republicans at an event Wednesday in Bozeman. The Montana Republican Party said Monday it was informed that Cheney had a scheduling conflict. Shortly afterward, the White House announced that Cheney is getting ready to visit three former Soviet Republics - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine - in the wake of unrest in the region.

Montana GOP Executive Director Jake Eaton says the party was told that Cheney may reschedule a Montana fundraiser later in the fall.
