POLSON - Lake County authorities say the search continues for a 70-year-old Big Fork-area man who disappeared Friday while swimming in Flathead Lake.

Larry "Ty" Beardsley was riding on a boat with a couple of friends when the owner of the boat dove into the lake at about 8:30 p.m. near Black Point, north of Polson. Undersheriff Jay Doyle says the owner was climbing back into the boat when Beardsley dove over him to go for a swim. Doyle says that was the last anyone saw of Beardsley.

The sheriff's office, the Polson Fire Department, and search and rescue teams from Lake and Flathead counties looked for Beardsley over the weekend. Doyle says an Idaho company was expected to continue the search Monday using a side-scan sonar, which can look for objects underwater.
