BOZEMAN - A 22-year-old man is dead after crashing his mountain bike in Bridger Canyon, northeast of Bozeman.

Gallatin County authorities say Daniel Nemcek of Bozeman suffered serious head injuries and other trauma after wrecking his bike Sunday afternoon near the Bangtail Divide Trailhead. Friends provided CPR at the scene and then traveled to a nearby ranch to call for help.

Nemcek was airlifted to a Billings hospital, where he later died. It was not clear whether he was wearing a helmet.
