GREAT FALLS - Canadian farmers trying to prevent construction of a major power line proposed for a route between Great Falls and Lethbridge, Alberta, are preparing to file an appeal.

They've received approval to submit their case to the Alberta Court of Appeals. The farmers plan to challenge a decision, by the Alberta Energy and Utilities Commission, to license the 230-kilovolt Montana Alberta Tie Line first proposed in 2005.

Marc Clark of Montana Alberta Tie says an appeal may delay the project, but won't stop it. The line's route would cross private farmland.
