BOULDER - A jury has decided that criminal charges aren't necessary against a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy who fatally shot a man during a confrontation.

Francis Stately died after Deputy Dave Kosola shot him January 19th. Stately brandished a 12-gauge shotgun during an expletive-filled tirade about how he wanted to kill police.

Kosola shot the 31-year-old Boulder man in the chest and torso after a failed attempt to subdue him with a Taser and after Stately pointed the weapon at him. That's according to Tuesday's testimony at a coroner's inquest.
