BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — An attorney for a Billings oral surgeon who is facing federal drug charges says her client has surrendered his dentistry license and is closing his practice.

Jerome "Jerry" Mancuso was released from jail Thursday pending trial on charges that he distributed cocaine from his home and business for over eight years.

Attorney Pamela Mackey of Denver says Mancuso also surrendered his federal Drug Enforcement Administration license on Thursday, but will likely seek reinstatement later.

The DEA suspended Mancuso's authority to prescribe controlled substances in March after the agency found problems with records and inventory.

Mackey was the attorney for NBA star Kobe Bryant in a 2003 Colorado rape case that was dismissed when the woman declined to testify.
