Hardin police chief firedBILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Hardin has fired the new police chief and one of the department's two officers less than five months after the department was created. Mayor Kim Hammond fired Chief Jeffrey Arntz on Tuesday, along with officer Francesca Brashear. Hammond would not say why the two were fired, saying only that they were probationary employees and the city can fire probationary employees without cause. Arntz was the former chief of police in Buckner, Mo. He was hired in April to create the first police department Hardin has had since 1976. His only two hires so far were Brashear and her husband, Brandon Brashear, both of whom worked for Arntz in Buckner. Arntz told KULR-TV of Billings that he was shocked and disheartened by the decision. |
