Woman charged in fatal hit-and-run jailed

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — A Stevensville woman charged with hitting a man with her SUV and killing him on New Years Day 2008 has been returned to jail for violating terms of her pretrial release.

Katie Garding is charged with negligent homicide in the death of 25-year-old Bronson Parsons of Troy as he and a friend walked along Highway 200.

Garding was arrested in March, pleaded not guilty and was released on conditions.

KECI-TV reports that Garding admitted to a smoking marijuana several times and was also accused of contacting witnesses and driving without a license. District Court Standing Master Brenda Desmond ordered Garding jailed on $30,000 bail after a hearing Thursday.
