Billings hospital lays off 28

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Officials at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings say 28 jobs have been eliminated, one-third of which were management positions.

The layoffs include clinical and non-clinical positions, representing 1.3 percent of the hospital's 2,150 employees.

President and CEO Jim Paquette said Thursday that shorter hospital stays and more frequent use of outpatient treatment led to the layoffs. He says the cuts do not reduce the number of nurses caring for patients.
