Morrill Act document goes on display in BozemanBOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Bozeman's Museum of the Rockies has put on display the document signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862 that created America's land-grant colleges. The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that the Morrill Act document was loaned to the museum by the National Archives in Washington, D.C., for the inauguration of Montana State University's new president, Waded Cruzado. The National Archives considers it one of the 100 most important documents in U.S. history. The museum built a special temperature and humidity controlled case and has beefed up security. The document will be on display through Oct. 2. ___ Information from: The Bozeman Daily Chronicle, http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com |
