Montana State, Kramer Settle Lawsuit After Firing

The attorney for former Montana State football coach Mike Kramer says Kramer has settled the lawsuit he filed against the university after his May 2007 firing.

Attorney Triel Culver of Billings said Wednesday that Kramer has agreed to a $240,000 settlement to drop his claim.

Kramer had argued that school officials said they were firing him "without cause" and then issued a press release and made public comments without giving him a chance to appeal the decision.

The breach of contract was one of several claims dismissed. That left a trial that was to begin Monday in Helena to determine only whether MSU libeled, slandered or portrayed Kramer in a false light. The trial has been cancelled.

Kramer plans a press conference at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
Hilton Garden Inn in Bozeman.
