Great Falls native wins World Team Trials for 4th time in 5 years

June 11, 2010 COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Olympic wrestler Mike Zadick of Great Falls won the United States World Team Trials today. Zadick beat 2009 National Champion Shawn Bunch 2-1 (0-1, 7-0, 3-0) in the men's freestyle tournament at 60Kg/132lbs.

The 31-year-old worked his way through the Challenge Tournament on Thursday for the right to challenge the top-ranked Bunch. Zadick is ranked second in the US.

He also won the US World Team Trial championship in 2006 and 2007, as well as the 2008 Olympic Team Trials. Zadick earned an at-large bid due to injury at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Bunch beat Zadick at the 2009 World Team Trials.

Zadick is an assistant coach with the Iowa Hawkeyes. In 2010, the Hawkeyes won the NCAA Championship for the third straight year. Zadick was an All-American at Iowa. He is a four-time Montana High School Champion for Great Falls High.
