Event Description

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) annual walk to Cure Diabetes held Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at Dornblaser Track and Field. Registration begins at 1pm. The 3 mile walk begins at 2pm and a BBQ and raffle prizes to follow.

JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes research worldwide. Since its founding in 1970, by parents with children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1 billion to diabetes research. Missoula's JDRF branch is completely volunteer driven. We have no administrative or office expense, therefore, 100% of event profits go directly toward funding research and education.

The day of the walk will be a fun filled day for both children and families affected by juvenile diabetes. There will be kids’ games, Missoula mascots (Monte, Ollie, and Slash), a raffle for the walkers, entertainment provided by The Trail radio station, team photos, and a free BBQ after the walk. We are asking friends and family members affected by juvenile diabetes to organize teams (can be as large or as small as you like), raise money (hopefully each walker in the team will set a goal of raising $100), and come to support juvenile diabetes research.

People interested in forming a team can pick up a registration form at most local pharmacies, the Trail radio station, Western Montana Clinic, Quality Supply. People also can go online at www.jdrf.org , click on the green shoe and then click "register for a walk" and pick Missoula. The final way to get information is to contact our walk coordinators Trish Duce at ducepa@mso.umt.edu or Susan Horst at shorst@jdrf.org.

Walk registration begins at 1pm Sunday, April 18th at Dornblaser Stadium and the walk begins at 2pm. BBQ will follow the walk. Hope to see you there!
