ABC MONTANA

By T. Ciprari

ABC MONTANA began with the construction of KTMF-TV in Missoula, MT in Febraury 1991. KTMF-TV ABC23 has been serving the western Montana viewing public ever since. In July of 1995 KTMF-LP, broadcasting to the Kalispell/Whitefish/Columbia Falls region, took to the air bringing the same great programming audiences in the KTMF Missoula viewing area had already been enjoying for a little over 4 years.

ABC MONTANA continued to grow its Montana viewership in September of 1996 with the sign on of KWYB in Butte, Montana. ABC18, as it is known by the local viewership, brought ABC network programming to the community along with much welcomed syndicated programming like the beloved "Simpson's". KWYB continued to grow its viewership with the edition of KWYB-LP in January of 1997. Serving the Bozeman viewing area, KWYB ABC28 went on the air with the same quality ABC programming viewers in the Butte area had already grown accustomed to watching every night.

Max Media of Montana purchased these ABC stations in 2001. Along with the acquisitions of ABC5 in Great Falls and ABC21 in Helena, ABC Montana was born. Providing quality ABC Network programming, some of the biggest hits in syndication and locally originated programming like 10@10 and NewsChannel 5's news broadcasts, ABC Montana is proud to be serving these Montana communities and the people of Montana who are our friends and neighbors.
